Midwifery Costs & Insurance

Private Insurance
Midwives are out-of-network providers, so coverage depends on whether there is an exclusion for homebirth with a licensed midwife in your insurance policy. Your out-of-network deductible will need to be met before insurance will reimburse.
HMSA, Blue Cross Blue Shield and other private insurances may be accepted. Currently, HMSA Quest is not accepted.
There is a required, non-refundable deposit due to establish care in my midwifery practice at your first prenatal.
Please discuss home midwifery coverage and deductible amounts with your insurance company.
Due to the uncertainty of private insurance reimbursement, I ask for complete midwifery payment by 37 weeks of pregnancy. If insurance makes a payment for midwifery services provided, that amount will be refunded to you.
I work with an insurance biller who can discuss and verify your insurance coverage benefits with you.
Filling out the link below verifies your insurance benefits and financial responsibilities. Roots Billing is a separate service provided to you. Any fees associated with this service are the clients responsibility.

Sliding scale available for those in financial need. Midwifery care should be obtainable to all. Please reach out to discuss your unique situation.
Cash, Certified Check, PayPal or Venmo payments are accepted.
There is a 4.75% HI GE tax fee added to any services.

Oregon Health Plan (OHP)
I accept Oregon Health Plan eligible members who choose out of hospital birth with a licensed midwife. Oregon Health Plan has certain deadlines and requires completion of certain pregnancy testing and screenings to qualify for reimbursement.
OHP does not cover at home VBAC or twins.
