Midwifery Costs & Insurance

  • Private Insurance

Midwives are out-of-network providers, so it depends on whether there is an exclusion for homebirth with a licensed midwife in your insurance policy. Your out-of-network deductible will need to be met before insurance will reimburse.

There is a required, non-refundable $600 deposit due to establish care in my midwifery practice at your first prenatal.

Please discuss this coverage and deductible amounts with your insurance company.

I work with an insurance biller who will discuss your coverage benefits with you. Due to the uncertainty of private insurance reimbursement, I ask for complete midwifery payment by 36 weeks of pregnancy. If insurance makes a payment for midwifery services provided, that amount will be refunded to you.

Complete payment for midwifery services by 36 weeks insures your financial commitment is completed with your midwife regardless of insurance reimbursement.

Filling out the link below verifies your insurance benefits and responsibilities for out of pocket payments for midwifery care. Roots Billing may charge a minimal fee to define insurance benefits for you.

  • Payment Options

Midwifery fees are discussed during you run person consultation.

Payment options can be arranged with your midwife with a signed payment contract. There is a required, non-refundable $600 deposit due to establish care in my midwifery practice at your first prenatal.

Sliding scale may be arranged for those in financial need.

Cash, Certified Check, PayPal or Credit Card payments are accepted. There is a 3.5% processing fee which the client is responsible for credit card use.

  • Oregon Health Plan (OHP)

I accept Oregon Health Plan eligible members who choose out of hospital birth with a licensed midwife. Oregon Health Plan has certain deadlines and requires completion of certain pregnancy testing and screenings to qualify for reimbursement.

OHP does not cover at home VBAC or twins.
